1. Change your Diet and Eating Habits.

Changing your diet and eating habits play a crucial role in your oral health. The foods that you eat matters to your teeth. A study suggested that a switch in your eating habits and diet can actually reverse tooth decay. As we already know that consuming products which are rich in sugar can lead to tooth decay.

Calcium is the main building component of your teeth and bones. Consume dairy products more often(milk, yogurt, cheese, butter).

Don’t forget to add nuts, seeds, and beans only that have been sprouted in your diet.

Eating or drinking a little here and there throughout the day puts your teeth under continuous attack, especially sugary food as we mentioned above. So it’s better to limit your frequent sipping and snacking. You can also drink unsweetened beverages.

A big No! to all the drinking sodas, fizzy drinks, and juices. Try something new like fruit smoothies or water. Increasing your water intake has advantages on your body including a higher flow of saliva and increased hydration.

Avoid food that tends to get stuck in your teeth for a long time. Such foods will also promote tooth cavities, such as cookies and chips.

You can have fruits, one piece daily early in the day.

Try eating foods high in healthy fats like coconut oil, avocado, olives.

Increase the intake of raw and cooked vegetables, especially green leafy vegetables.

Finally, say NO to processed foods, fast foods or packaged foods.

2. Clean and Change your Toothbrush Regularly.

Have you ever thought that toothbrush is the most important tool to clean our teeth? Yes!. But only a few people know the importance of right toothbrush. Here are some key points that can help you care for your toothbrush.

  • Every time pick a small or medium-sized brush, and also make sure that its bristles can reach into the cervices of your molar where the food remains love to hide after you eat.
  • Never use covers for your toothbrush because they may be a paradise for bacteria. So it’s better to just rinse your toothbrush after every use and leave it to dry.
  • Change your toothbrush regularly because its bristles become worse with usage and also time. American Dental Association recommends to change the brush every three to four months or sooner.

3. Follow a Good Dental Care Routine.

According to the International Dental Health Association, almost 42% of adults use the toothbrush as their only oral care. Our dental care requires more attention than we think. Here are some tips which you can follow throughout the day that can help u from early tooth decay,

Always brush your teeth 2 times a day for at least 2 minutes each. Try brushing all the teeth, reaching out to the crevices of your molars.

Floss your teeth regularly. Sometimes even brushing your teeth doesn’t work as well as flossing. Flossing can help to get the germs that are stuck there.

Use an effective mouthwash. Mouth washing can help you get rid of the remaining bacteria from your mouth.

Here’s a Tip – Don’t rinse your mouth with water, the effect will last longer.

4. Chew Sugarless Gum.

When you chew gum, your mouth fills with saliva and that can naturally wash off the food remains right away.

5. Never Skip your Regular Dentist Cleanings Sessions.

You must speak to your dentist about how frequently you’ll need to visit to maintain your oral health. Even if you brush or floss your teeth, there are some areas which are always hard to reach.

A dentist can help u clean and remove any plaque formations. Cleaning is an important step in fighting against tooth decay. Try to visit the dentist at least twice a year.

6. Try Coconut Oil Pulling.

Do you want a more natural way of preventing tooth decay? You can try coconut oil pulling.

It can be done by swishing a tablespoon of oil in your mouth for 15-20 minutes and spit it out. Don’t swallow it. The best time to oil pull would be in the morning right after you get out of bed.

If you can’t do it for 15 minutes, even five minutes would be still good.

7. Make your own Natural Toothpaste.


An easy homemade natural toothpaste needs only some ingredients that you can easily get.
You will need:

  • 4 tablespoon of calcium powder
  • 1 tablespoon of sea salt
  • 2 tablespoon of baking soda
  • 1 tablespoon of stevia
  • 1/4 cup coconut oil.

Mix all the above ingredients until you get a fine paste. Use it as your toothpaste.

Remember: Do not use this toothpaste for more than 30 days in a row due to the absence of fluoride in it.

Bonus Tip: Try drinking green or black tea.
